Here are the top paid employees at MassBay Community College in 2020

FRAMINGHAM — The 2020 payroll data of Massachusetts Bay Community College employees offers a look at how faculty members were compensated.

David Podell, president of the college, made $208,886 in base salary in 2020, according to numbers from the comptroller’s office. His pay is in line with other community college presidents in the state, ranking sixth among 15 other such executives.

The average salary of a Massachusetts community college president last year was $203,680.

Podell stepped into the role in July 2016, and is the college’s sixth president. Before joining MassBay, he served as vice president for academic affairs and dean of the faculty at Marymount Manhattan College and as senior vice president for academic affairs and provost at the College of Staten Island, part of the City University of New York (CUNY).

In total, the college doled out 1,266 paychecks in 2020. Its payroll totaled about $25.08 million, down about $732,762 from the previous year when 1,272 people were paid.

MassBay employed 39 people with the title of “professor” last year. On average, they were compensated $59,040. There were 27 assistant professors, earning an average of $54,415.
